I just leanred about this today. Honestly... how can people be so sick? And how can History classes ignore this subject.
Oh yeah, US and Japan are pretty tight.
Come on Japan, Germany owned up to the Holocaust and paid their dues, and you won't even fucking mention something that destroyed so many people in the most inhumane ways in your textbooks? Are you that shamefully proud?
Japan is cool and all for some parts, but the political side of it makes me sad sometimes.
And no, you cannot deny this.
I'm literally feeling teary reading that post... :[ My heart hurts.
And people still don't learn. They say they'll look at the Holocaust and learn from their mistakes, and then they say Darfur doesn't matter/don't even know about it.
Reminds me of that part in one of my favourite books of all time, To Kill A Mockingbird, where Scout was befuddled at the hypocrisy of her teacher, who said the holocaust was horrible while at the same time she looked at black people like they were animals.

"Year of your birth. Double it. Even numbers, I win, odd numbers, I lose." - Guildenstern, Rosencrantz And Guildenstern Are Dead
There are things that have happened in history that everyone ignores. The horrible things that happened to Chinese prisoners of war, the things that happened to homosexuals and JW's in the holocaust (and tons of other groups!), Darfur, even the American soliders in Iraq who through a puppy off a cliff. There's things going on today that if you knew about them, you would never sleep.
I think, attacking Japan for the same things that other countries are equally guilty of is a bit prejudice though. And also, I think you need to do a bit more research about something like that to make sure your opinion is based on truth and not just assumption (I'm not saying that that isn't so).
[link] Here is the wikipedia about it. "Nevertheless, an Imperial Proclamation (1894) stated that Japanese soldiers should make every effort to win the war without violating international law. According to historian Yuki Tanaka, Japanese forces during the First Sino-Japanese War, released 1,790 Chinese prisoners without harm, once they signed an agreement not to take up arms against Japan again.[8] After the Russo-Japanese War (1904-05), all 79,367 Russian Empire prisoners were released, and were paid for labour performed, in accordance with the Hague Convention.[9] Similarly the behaviour of the Japanese military in World War I (1914-18) was at least as humane as that of other militaries."
I don't really disagree with you. If they haven't recognized it and apologized for it, that would be very horrible for their international relations and for their consciences.
I wish people wouldn't be so damned ignorant to the going-on's around them today.. and in history.

You're right, horrible things happen everywhere, but a lot of stuff gets ignored like whoa. Read the thread, that was the point.
